It is PInellas County’s largest preserve. I think I like the scale of it. It has a great environmental education center that is entertaining for both kids and adults. I would highly recommend checking it out.
Keep in mind some of the trails may be a little soggy. Definitely worth the drive. Check their site for hours of operation. They have limited hours now.
We’re going this Friday morning and we’ll do the Ed Center trail loop, since we’ll have little kids and strollers. A friend of mine said the county is talking about shutting it down. I hope not.
We finally made it to Brooker Creek a couple of weeks ago. It was so beautiful and the education center was so cool. My 3-year-old loved the watershed exhibit and the gopher tortoise burrow. I would definitely pay a few dollars to get in there.
I’ve never been to this preserve before. It sounds really cool though. What do you like best about it?

I think I will plan a field trip there soon. I just wanted to make sure it’s worth the drive.

I am hoping that the county changes their minds. There are a few options at the moment. They may consider charging a small fee to keep the parks open.
